Cleveland Strives for Inclusive Development
WRJ Developers is proud to announce our involvement in the Cleveland Equitable Development Initiative (CLE-EDI), a groundbreaking program led by Cleveland Development Advisors and Cleveland Neighborhood Progress. The initiative aims to level the playing field for developers of color, providing opportunities to bring transformative projects to Cleveland's underserved neighborhoods.
About the Program
CLE-EDI selected fifteen developers of color to join a cohort where they received mentorship and guidance over several months. The program culminated in a "Shark Tank"-style pitch competition, where the top three winners received pre-development grants of $50,000, $30,000, and $20,000.
WRJ Developers' managing member, Jermaine Brooks, was among the top competitors, presenting a vision that aligns with the initiative’s goal of fostering growth and inclusivity in areas like the Opportunity Corridor and Slavic Village.
Transformative Projects for Cleveland’s Future
The winning projects are set to make a significant impact, with the top prize going to Andre Bryan for his iSPACE project—a temperature-controlled warehouse along Cleveland’s Opportunity Corridor. This facility will not only enhance local healthcare access but also contribute to economic growth by serving local health departments and nonprofit organizations.
WRJ Developers is committed to continuing our work in these vital areas, bringing innovative, community-driven projects to life.
Looking Ahead
As Cleveland pushes forward with efforts to create more inclusive development opportunities, WRJ Developers is excited to be part of this journey. We remain dedicated to fostering growth in our city’s most underserved neighborhoods and contributing to Cleveland's future as a more equitable and vibrant community.
